Every apparel box is made to your own dieline, so the inside depth matches your folded garment plus tissue. Rigid board runs from 1.5 mm for shirts and knitwear up to 3 mm for coats, suit sets and multi-piece gift sets. Folding carton versions use 10 to 28 pt SBS, which costs less and suits bigger runs. Kraft and recycled paperboard are there if you need recyclable packaging. Wrap papers include uncoated, textured and coloured stock, and all of them take CMYK and Pantone printing. Finishes cover matte, gloss and soft touch lamination, spot UV, foil stamping, embossing and debossing. You can add a magnetic closure, ribbon pull, window patch, garment tissue, a printed care card or a fitted insert. The minimum order is 100 boxes.
Custom Box Styles for Luxury Apparel Packaging
A two-piece lid and base is the classic apparel box. The lid lifts away and shows the folded collar or front panel at the right angle. Magnetic closure boxes add a lid that snaps shut, which suits gift sets and higher price points. Drawer and sleeve sets slide open, so you can print the sleeve for each season and reuse one tray. Collapsible rigid boxes fold flat until you pack them, which saves a lot of storage space in a small studio. For online orders, an e-flute mailer with printing on the inside gives a clean opening without the weight of rigid board.
Board and Wrap Options
Match the board to the weight of the garment. A single folded shirt sits fine on 1.5 mm greyboard. A coat, a suit set or a three-piece gift set needs 2 to 3 mm, or the base will bow once the box is picked up. Folding carton stock in 10 to 28 pt SBS is the cheaper route for volume runs and still prints sharply. Kraft suits brands that want a plain, recyclable look. The wrap paper matters as much as the board, since that is what the customer touches. Uncoated and textured papers feel warmer in the hand, while coated papers hold bright colour better. If you already order luxury packaging from us, we can match the wrap and finish across your whole range.
How to Size an Apparel Box
Fold five garments the way your packing team folds them. Measure the length, width and height, then take the largest reading. Add 5 mm of height for tissue, and another 3 mm if a card or ribbon goes on top. As a starting point, a folded dress shirt usually fits a box near 29 x 22 x 6 cm. Knitwear and hoodies need 8 to 10 cm of depth. Send us your numbers and our design team returns a dieline and a digital mockup before we print anything.
Inside the Box: Linings, Tissue and Inserts
The inside of the box does half the work. A printed or coloured base frames the garment when the lid comes off, and it stops raw board from showing at the edges. Tissue holds the fold and stops light fabrics from shifting in transit. A ribbon pull or belly band gives the customer something to open. A card on top of the fold can carry sizing, care notes or a thank you. These are cheap to add at the quote stage and awkward to add later.
Printing and Finishing Options
Offset printing keeps colour the same across a wholesale run, and Pantone matching keeps your brand shade the same on every reprint. Matte lamination looks quiet and hides fingerprints. Soft touch coating suits high-end lines. Gloss lifts bold colour and photo prints. Foil stamping and embossing work well for a logo on a plain lid, since the shape catches the light on its own. Spot UV over a matte base adds contrast without a second colour.
