How to Choose the Right Cupcake Box Size
Cupcake box holder is set by three measurements: cavity count, cavity diameter, and interior height. Get one wrong and the stated count stops meaning anything.
What Size Box Holds 12 Cupcakes?
A 12-count cupcake box runs roughly 13 x 10 x 4 inches with a 3x4 cavity layout. A 6-count sits at roughly 10 x 7 x 4 inches in a 2x3 layout, and a 24-count doubles the 12-count footprint or stacks into two tiers.

Mini, Standard and Jumbo Cavity Sizes
Cavity diameter has to match your liner. A standard cupcake baked in a 2-inch liner needs a 2 to 2.25 inch cavity. A mini in a 1.25-inch liner needs 1.25 to 1.5 inches, which is why a mini tray fits 24 into the footprint a standard 12-count uses.
Jumbo is where most orders go wrong. A jumbo baked in a 3.25 to 3.5 inch liner needs a 2.75 to 3 inch cavity and about 5 inches of interior height, and forcing one into a standard cavity deforms the liner. Expect a jumbo tray to hold half the count of the same footprint.
Height matters as much as diameter. Measure your tallest frosted cupcake, add half an inch of clearance, and that is your box height.
One more variable worth deciding early: whether the insert is a separate tray or built into the box. A built-in tray ships assembled and saves counter time. A separate tray costs slightly more per unit but lets you reuse one box size across two cavity layouts, which is useful if you sell both standard and mini from the same shelf.
Cupcake Box Materials and Stock Weights
Stock weight scales with cavity count, because a full box carries more weight across a wider unsupported span. A 12-count box cut from 14pt stock will bow in the middle once it is loaded, and the cupcakes at the centre take the damage.

Are Cupcake Boxes Food Safe in Canada?
Yes. Our cupcake boxes are produced on food-grade stock with food-safe inks and coatings for direct contact with baked goods.
Under Health Canada's rules for packaging materials, Division 23 of the Food and Drug Regulations prohibits selling food in packaging that transfers any harmful substance to the contents. Section B.23.001 places that responsibility on the food seller, which means the bakery, not the box supplier.
